Snow Day!!

Even in grad school cancelled classes still make me super duper happy!!!  Today a snow storm was expected across CT with freezing rain and temps tonight.  I kept my fingers crossed that I would get that cancelled class text and woo hoo at 12:45 I got it!!!  Even better was the fact that I had a midterm in class today so one more week to study!!  Snow days and early dismissals were the best growing up!!!  Getting up and seeing your school on the TV and yay no school!!!  Building snowmen, sledding down my front hard hill into the road, snowball fights...those were the best.  The worst part was all the gear you had to put on, snowsuits, gloves, hats, boots, etc etc.

There was no sledding today or even that much snow in fact but while I was sitting in my apartment doing laundry it was nice to look out and see this :

A nice steady snow falling :)
I even got into the snow spirit and rocked one of my winter hats today -->

and of course made a hot and yummy cup of coffee to get me through the rest of my schoolwork on this snowy day!!!

So excited....TITANIC in 3D!!!

Have you been to the movies and seen the previews or seen the preview on TV for Titanic???? Yes that's right Titanic is making a big return to the theaters and it will be in 3D!!!!  When I found this out I was very very excited :)  I love Titanic...my friends would probably say I am obsessed with it because I can recite lines from the movie (quite a few actually)...what can I say I have a good memory hahah.  I remember when I first went to go see Titanic when it first came out, I went with my dad and my sister and I was immediately hooked.  Jack and Kate won my heart...after seeing the movie I got a huge poster of Leo to hang in my room, had the Titanic soundtrack (which was ALL instrumental except for the Celine Dion song haha I don't know why I wanted it that bad), and I had the VHS of titanic with 2 tapes!!! haha I remember I got the VHS the first day it came out and when I got home the tape didnt work :(  I was sooo disappointed...but went back the next day to exchange it.  I don't know where my Titanic tapes are today but lately it has been on TV all the time so I have gotten my Titanic fix each time I catch it on.  I am interested to see this in 3D and see if it is even better when you wear crazy 3D glasses hahah.

April 4th you know where I will be :)

This came out in 1997...wow that was a long time ago...I feel old :(

 Jack I'm flying!!!!

Every time I see this scene I get soo mad because:
A. They both could have fit on that huge piece of furniture...Rose did not have to lie down on it
B. If there was this big piece of furniture in the water there had to have been more so why didn't Jack get his own piece??

The other night after I saw the preview on TV (It says are you ready to go back to Titanic?? And I respond Yes cant wait!) I looked up who were other actors considered for the roles of Jack and Kate and let me tell you it was surprising.
-Claire Danes, Reese Witherspoon, Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Gweneth Paltrow all were considered for the role
-Brad Pitt and Matthew McConaughey were considered for Jack
-Reba McEntire was offerred the role of the unsinkable Molly Brown but turned it down.

Craft Update

With all my time spent on Pinterst lately I have had the crafters fever.  To soothe this fever I have made two crafts lately.

First: Painted Wine Glass
I always looked at the painted wine glasses at craft fairs, in stores like Hallmark and anywhere else and wanted them all but was not a fan of the prices.  Then I researched what it took to paint my own glasses and have never looked back.  Three easy steps and a little creativity and I have my very own decorated glasses.  They are perfect as gifts or for your very own cabinets.

I use the permenamel paint
There are three steps: primer, color and protectant glaze.  Three little bottles, some brushes, and glasses and poof you have everything you need for wine glass painting :)  The wine glasses I get are inexpensive glasses.  I have painted all sizes, red, white, stemless.  I have found that Pier 1 of all places has affordable wine glasses.  One glass is only like $2!!! Painted wine glasses in stores go for $20 and up!!
So the glass I painted I got the idea for it on Pinterst and just went for it.  I wouldn't consider it my best glass but I still like it :)  Its the Miss America of wine glasses...The Miss Wine Glass!!! Drum roll please...............................Here she is

She wears her sash proud.  The front says Miss Wine and the back says Drink Up!  Whoever takes the Miss Wine glass out of the cabinet has to use this glass proud and live up to its name :)

The next craft I made was a gift for my little sister.  Shout out to Amanda!!!  For Christmas I gave my mom a letter wrapped in yarn and I accessorised it with a flower and ribbon.  My sister saw this and requested a letter of her own.  In my crafty spirit I decided to fulfill her request and wala...here is her very own letter:

All I had to do was wrap the letter in the twine/yarn (which honestly is the hardest and most time consuming part) and then I just decorated it with ribbon that I had in my craft box :)  I had fun with it and decorated it with hearts and a bow.  Now she can hang this letter on the wall or on a door knob and it will make the perfect new decoration for her room.

Be on the lookout for more craft updates.  I took a trip to Michael's the other day and stocked up on new supplies for new projects.  Side note: I have an app on my phone called GeoQpons which gives me tons of electronic coupons to tons of different stores.  The cashier just scans your phone...how cool is that!!!!  Michael's always has tons of different coupons on there to choose form which makes shopping there even more enjoyable :)  Now I just have to find and set aside time to get my craft on :)  (This shouldn't be too hard to do hahaha)

Scarves

So while I was organizing my room I realized that I have tons of scarves, more than I even realized.  I love scarves, they are the perfect go to accessory for fall , winter and spring.  People at work had started to comment that I must be obsessed with scarves because I wear a different one everyday.  I do not really wear them to keep me warm but more so as an accessory.(although I do notice my neck is a little cold when I take it off :)  It is an easy way to spruce up an outfit and add a pop of color.  I usual wear neutral tone colors and it is easy to add a bright scarf.  There are many different ways to tie a scarf even more then the ones listed below but I usually wear mine like the 2nd or 4th girl in this picture.

I dont know how I feel in love with scarves...I used to think they were cute and looked good but that I couldnt pull it off and just looked silly wearing them.  But I guess one day I found the right one and scarves have been my friend ever since.  I have scarfs in all different colors and patterns, two bins full of them to be exact :)  I do not spend a lot of money on the scarves, I love to find bargins and sales.  Most of my scarves are from old navy, the gap and even good old target.  Below are some scarves that I have my eye on and would love to add to my collection :)

People Watching

Today I was at Barnes and Nobles getting work done for my grad classes....I seem to be able to get soo much more work done when I am somewhere away from home (too many fun distractions I guess).  Well while I was there I found myself doing something I love to do: people watch.  I don't know where the fascination comes from but I know myself and my friends love to do this.  Just to watch people and ponder in your head, what are they doing here, why are they wearing that, where are they headed etc etc.  The world is fill of so many interesting and unique people that it is nice to just stop and watch them in action.  Places that I have found to be good for people watching are airports and the mall.  Having worked at the mall we used to do this all the time when it was slow, even picking out our future selves walking in the mall hahah.  Just today I saw:
  • A little kid fall and make a loud scene
  • A man trip walking up the stairs to the Starbucks in B&N
  • Someone spill their coffee all over their laptop
  • A couple sitting there and then the husband said okay wanna go up to the food court (whoa talk about a romantic valentine's meal ha ha the mall food court)
So be sure to be take in the people around you the next place you go.

Oh I did get a lot of work done by the way not all of my time was spent on people watching :)

Happy Valentine's Day

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!

Coffee

Coffee is a drink that I love.  There are so many different variations: flavored, regular, veinte, grande, tall, light roast dark roast, hot, iced, etc etc. Coffee is unique to each individual, go into a coffee shop and everyone is all drinking coffee but their own variation on the tasty drink.  I prefer coffee with no sugar just cream.  Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks I like them both.  Coffee is a drink that is a social activity as well.  Coffee with a friend is the way to pass the time.  Coffee and chating go hand and hand together.  I love when I press the coffee pot on and can start to smell it brewing :)  Coffee is not a drink that I have to drink everyday or have to rely on to wake me up, its just a delicious drink I love.  I think through my love of coffee I have developed a love of coffee mugs too.  At work I am usually the one with a to go mug filled with coffee everyday.  My cabinet is full of mugs, different colors, different sayings, one with pictures, and even one that sings to me :)  Coffee is a drink I dont think i will ever get sick of.  Lets make a date to meet for coffee soon :)

I LOVE Pinterest

Have you ever heard of Pinterest???  If you haven't you are missing out.  I was introduced to it by a coworker and lets just say I am addicted hahaha.  I go on pinterest everyday, even have the pinterest app on my phone.  It is the place to get ideas on anything and everything.  There a couple of crafts that I have made from pinterest:
snowmen made from terra cotta pots :)
christmas wreath....all you need is a wire hanger, christmas ornamnets and ribbon

Wooden letter wrapped in twine and glammed up with accents

Perfect gift for teachers :)  I made this for my sister, letter made out of crayons and put into a shadowbox for display

I painted this wooden sign for my aunt.  An easy craft that she can hang pictures or drawings her grandchildren make :)

I can spend hours on Pinterest finding DIY crafts, outfits, nailpolish, hair styles, planning my dream home and much more.  A few crafts that I want to work on next are:

First Blog

Welcome to my Blog!!!
I have been reading various blogs online for a while, blogs my friends have created, celebirty blogs and various other ones.  I got the Blogger fever and decided to start my own!!!! I figured this is a good outlet for me to share my thoughts and ideas on certain topics.  I am excited to get started.  A little bit about me:  I am 24 years old and I live in Connecticut.  I have lived in CT all my life except for two years that I lived in NC after graduating college.  I have made my way back to the northeast for my Masters degree.  I am attending grad school for my masters in school counseling and cant wait to become a school counselor someday working in either a middle or high school.  I am very interested in photography, I love creating lasting memories for people and am even in the works of creating my own in home and on location photography business with two of my friends.  I have a passion for  crafts and DIY projects.  What a sense of accomplishment when I make something :)  I love to make things and give them as gifts, much more personal than a gift card.
