Who Needs Snow

If you live in the Northeast then you probably have heard about the blizzard that is headed our way today.  In Connecticut the news has been covering this upcoming blizzard for days, preparing or scaring everyone about whats to come.  It is a little scary when the forecast is for 12-40 inches of snow!!!
haha Storm Nemo :)

People in CT have been going crazy preparing for this storm.  I went to Target last night and it was a madhouse.  Empty shelves, carts filling up.  People must be keeping up with their New Years resolution because the entire bagged salad section was empty..not one bag left in site.  Also pretty empty were the milk, bread and water shelves.  Why is it that with every big storm people fill up on these things??  Do they ever actually eat the bread and drink the milk during the storm???
I fell into the Target trap last night (spending wayyy more than I planned on)

Schools are all closed today, cancellations pouring in, people home waiting for the storm.

I mean I love snow days just as much as anyone but after living in CT for just about all my life (except for those two years in NC) I think I am over snow.  I do not ski or snowboard, I hate shoveling and clearing off my car, driving in snow can be scary, bitterly cold temps are never fun, no one likes that feeling of being freezing and then coming in and having that tingling feeling (if you don't know what i am talking about you're lucky)  The snow looks nice watching it fall out my window but I think I have seen enough snowfalls out the window.  Sledding can be fun, I haven't gone in a while but I don't think I would miss it if I never did it again...haha wow so that's enough complaining for one post.  I guess in conclusion I do not like snow or am just over snow..just snow days :) I know my friends in NC love when it snows but I think that is because they have not seen as much snow as I have seen in my lifetime.  I wish I could use my finger like Sabrina the teenage witch and transport to Florida for the weekend :)

Since I am not a witch, I am ready for this snow day or possible snow weekend.  I am ready to curl up on the couch with a blanket, a cup of coffee, and some good books.

This is the perfect candle for this storm

Valentine Blog Party

So I enjoy reading Lauren's blog everyday and a few weeks ago she teamed up with other bloggers and planned a Valentine's Blogging Party.  For this party you would get paired up with someone and send them a cute little gift.  You could get to know the person through their blog and emailing and choose something to send.  I was paired up with Marissa from I get my crafty from my Momma blog ( don't you just love that name)  Marissa and her sister along with her mom blog together and they even have their own Etsy shop full of cute things they make.  I was excited when I checked my mail yesterday and inside was a box from Marissa!!!  Yay!!!  I love getting mail (well fun mail..I do not do a happy dance when bills arrive in my box) When there is a package or a note/card woo hoo there is a smile on my face.  :)

Here is what was inside my Valentines box from Marissa

Two cute little baskets that Marissa made with a gorgeous pattern.  I love the flowers and the colors. These will come in handy.  Also those are bobby pins inside the container but not just any old bobby pin they have cute little color dot accents on the end.  Two pink and one yellow.  I am excited to wear these soon.  Also in the box was a Nivea chapstick and the key chain right in front.  But not just any old key chain....it has a spot to put your chapstick!!!  How cool is that

Ta da!!!  I mean how perfect is this.  You don't have to search through your bag to find your chapstick you can have it hanging right from your keys!!  The Nivea chapstick is a brand I have never tried before but so far I like it.  When you open it, it reminds me of a gluestick but not to be fooled its chapstick!!

I have done a Coffee Mug Swap and now this Blogging Valentines party and i enjoy doing them :)  It is a way to meet new people from all over and check out blogs that you probably wouldn't come across on your own and who doesn't love to get little gifts in the mail (I mean you read how excited I get about mail at the beginning of this post )

Who Needs Bread

So I have seen this on Pinterest many times while spending hours on the site...Seriously I don't know what I did before I found this website :)

Instead of using bread for a sandwich use a cucumber!!!
The recipe that I saw used laughing cow cheese spread on the cucumber, turkey and some mustard so that is what I did!  I ended up only using half of the cucumber because I wasn't sure about eating a whole cucumber haha... So after taking a bite my conclusion is that this is really good!!!  Who would have thought a little veggie could be center of attention like this.  It was easier to eat when I made it an open face sandwich.  All in all i was impressed with the cucumber :)  This is an easy way to spice up your lunchbox and saves on the carbs!!!

Adding Pop of Color to My Bathroom

DIY Project # 1 of 2013

So on my last trip to Michael's I was really in the mood to paint something…I don't know what it was but the paint and brushes were calling my name.  I picked out the paint and got some canvas.  The canvas at Michael's were buy one get one free (thumbs up for a deal) Now I had to figure out what I was going to paint.  I wanted to try and paint something I could hang in my bathroom as I have had one wall empty since I moved in and wanted to liven the place up, I mean I spend a lot of time in there getting ready everyday it should look good :) haha anyways…my bathroom color scheme is very neutral, tan and white shower curtain and towels and little pop of color in little jars and accent pieces so I wanted to add more color and this is what I ended up with…

I have seen this painting on Pinterest and they really are super easy to create.  All you need is a canvas, masking tape, paint, and brushes.  I started by taping strips of masking tape all over the canvas.  I did not do it in any kind of pattern just wherever I wanted to put it.  Then I painted the main color of the canvas covering the tape and applying 2 coats.  Then I removed the tape and had perfect white lines waiting for me underneath :)  I then used the other color and painted in the strips.  You could do more than two colors if you wanted and make it super fancy but I stuck with the blue and green.  I think it adds the right amount of color to my space and my shower curtain has geometric patterns just like the paintings so it goes hand in hand.

Now on to the next project….

Target Find

While I was at Target today (can't believe how many times I go there)  I found this little gem just waiting for me on the shelf.  It was calling my name to take it home and it was the last one in this color so I could not resist.  Better yet it was only $2.00!!!

This cute little container.  I love that it has the chalkboard area to label what is inside.  They had a few different sizes and colors, I think red, white and this light blue one.  It was technically in the kitchen area with plates and cups etc but I think I am going to use this in my bathroom or maybe as a pen holder.  You could put anything in it...Q tips, makeup brushes, pens, etc etc.  For only 2.00 I could not pass this up.  Thanks Target for always making so many things I fall in love with.
